What is truth?

John 18:33-38 33 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" 34 Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?" 35 Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?" 36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here." 37 Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." 38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them,"I find no fault in Him at all. NKJV I believe the best way to squash the false teaching of Amillennialism, which is a doctrine that creates spiritual pride in it's belivers, is to address the King of the Jews teaching on what the kingdom is. In verser 33 Jesus is asked, "Are you the king of the Jews"? The one who asks this question, Pontius Pilate, works for the ruler of the present darkness in the days of our Lord. It is important to note that Jesus states that His primary purpose was bear witness to the truth in a world ruled by darkness(v.37). Jesus adresses Pilate individualy. He responds by asking Pilate if this is his personal concern or is he serving those who desire to kill Christ. In order to answer Pilate's curiosity Jesus deals with him one on one or face to face. Jesus had just been through various trials through the night among His own people, the Jews, and He would not answer them a word in regards to their false accusations. Therefore, Christ opens His mouth for this man who has the power to kill him, and the question is about a battle of the kingdoms, and the ruler of them.
Here is where we find that Christ's present kingdom is not of this world, because if it was his followers would fight. The issue here is one of timing. Christ is King, but "now" He does not rule His kingdom from here, that is; in the darkness. He rules His kingdom from the Light. Jesus confesses that He is a king, but His purpose was not to fight this present darkness by the force of politics or carnal weapons, but with Truth. This was a weapon Pilate counld not fight with. Pilate could not fight with Truth, because he did not know the Truth. Pilate was a proud man who ruled his world by force. He used the forces of darkness like, lies, theft, and murder to over power his enemies. But, Christ simply used the sword of His words and the sacrifice of His flesh to fight with Truth. Because of Jesus' defense before Pilate, Pilate could not find any fault in Him to punish Him. Pilate is simply left with the question, "What is Truth"?
Well, because the Jesus had to die for His enemies the whole Truth was not yet revealed. The Truth about Christ's kingdom was not yet complete because Christ's kingdom is not yet fully built(1Cor.3:14). In Rev. 20 we see that Christ will come again with a different purpose. That purpose is to avenge those who followed Christ into His earthly sufferings. This will be a time period to refresh and restore those who have suffered for the Word of God(Truth)(Rev.20). He is not coming as a Lamb during this time period, but as a political Head who will pour out wrath upon those who exalt themselves against His kingdom, but "now" He gives us time to make peace with Him(Rev.19). Why ask what is Truth when it is staring you in the face?
Gal 4:24-27 For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar — 25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which "now" is, and is in bondage with her children — 26 but the Jerusalem "above" is free, which is the mother of us all.NKJV
2 Cor 6:2 Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.NKJV But that Day(s) of the Lord will come and there will be no mercy upon the sons of disobedience.
Isa 13:9-11 9 Behold, the day of the Lord comes, Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger, To lay the land desolate; And He will destroy its sinners from it. 10 For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine. 11 "I will punish the world for its evil, And the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. NKJV 2 Peter 3:10-13 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. NKJV But this Day will be many days until it's consumation, because the covenant on Sinai will be restored to the Jews when they finally receive Jesus the Christ as King.
Rom 11:1-12 Israel's Rejection Not Total 11 I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, 3 "Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life"? 4 But what does the divine response say to him? "I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal." 5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work. 7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 Just as it is written: "God has given them a spirit of stupor, Eyes that they should not see And ears that they should not hear, To this very day." 9 And David says: " Let their table become a snare and a trap, A stumbling block and a recompense to them. 10 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, And bow down their back always." Israel's Rejection Not Final 11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. 12 Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how much more their fullness! NKJV Rom 11:25-33 25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; 27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins." 28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31 even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. 33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! NKJV
